Story:

The film introduces us to a command center officer, Ahana Gill (Manushi Chhillar), and a war plane pilot, Arjun Dev, called Rudra (Varun Tej). Ahana always disapproves of Rudra’s habit as he is egoistic and does not care about protocol to save the lives of his comrades or take ‘revenge’. Although the two are married, there are constant disagreements between them due to Rudra’s protocol breaking attitude, as in the past, he had lost his colleague, Kabir (Navdeep), during Project Vajra.

The story takes a turn when a terrorist attack occurs in Srinagar, where a suicide bomber pushes his car into a convoy of Indian security forces, killing 40 soldiers. After this most deadly attack, India plans a mission to respond, where Rudra, Ahana, and their partners play a vital role.

Operation Valentine Movie Review: Script Analysis

Operation Valentine is a patriotic action thriller that revolves around the Pulwama attack and the Indian Air Force’s subsequent response to it. The script, written by Shakti Pratap Singh Hada, follows the story of Arjun Dev (Varun Tej), a fighter pilot, and Ahaana Gill (Manushi Chhillar), a command centre officer, who share a turbulent past and a common mission. The script tries to balance the elements of romance, drama, and patriotism, but fails to do justice to any of them. The plot is predictable and cliched, with many loopholes and inconsistencies. The characters are poorly developed and lack depth and motivation. The dialogues are cheesy and melodramatic, with forced humour and jingoism. The script also suffers from poor editing and continuity, leaving many scenes and subplots unresolved or irrelevant.

Operation Valentine Movie Review: Star Performance

The cast of Operation Valentine is led by Varun Tej, who plays the role of Arjun Dev, a rebellious and aggressive pilot. Varun Tej does a decent job in portraying the character, but his performance is hampered by the weak script and direction. He fails to bring out the emotional nuances and complexities of his character, and often resorts to overacting and shouting.

Operation Valentine Movie Review

Manushi Chhillar, who makes her Tollywood debut with this film, plays the role of Ahaana Gill, a smart and strong-willed officer. Manushi Chhillar looks beautiful and confident, but her role is poorly written and limited. She does not have much scope to showcase her acting skills, and her chemistry with Varun Tej is bland and unconvincing.

Paresh Pahuja, as Yash Sharma, does a decent job and comes off as a comic relief in between during the entire yawnfest that’s going on. The supporting cast, which includes Navdeep, Ruhani Sharma, Paresh Pahuja, Ali Reza, Shataf Figar, Sampath Raj, and Mir Sarwar, is wasted in insignificant and stereotypical roles. They do not have much screen time or impact on the story.

Operation Valentine Movie Review: Direction, Music

The direction of Operation Valentine is done by Shakti Pratap Singh Hada, who fails to impress with his debut film. He does not have a clear vision or a coherent narrative, and relies heavily on the visual effects and action scenes to carry the film. He does not manage to create a gripping or engaging film, and loses the audience’s attention and interest. He also does not handle the emotions and the patriotism well, and makes the film look superficial and artificial. The music of Operation Valentine is composed by Mickey J Meyer, who delivers a mediocre and forgettable score. The songs are generic and dull, and do not suit the mood or the theme of the film. The background score is loud and repetitive, and does not enhance the scenes or the emotions.

Operation Valentine Movie Review: The Last Word

Operation Valentine is a disappointing and dull film, that fails to live up to the expectations and the hype. It is a poorly executed and poorly written film, that lacks a human story and a soul. It is a film that tries to cash in on the nationalism and the patriotism, but ends up being a mockery of them. It is a film that is neither high on action nor high on emotion, and leaves the audience feeling bored and dissatisfied. I give it 2 stars out of 5.

Two stars!
